Bible and History will be studied together as a family using My Father's World - Romans to the Reformation. Included in this study is the book English from the Roots Up. Using this book, Greek and Latin Roots are studied to aid in the understanding of English words. Flash cards and tests for this book can be found here. My youngest will also be using the Science books that came with My Father's World - Romans to the Reformation kit. It includes the study of the human body and astronomy.
Beautiful Girlhood will be studied as a family using the book by Karen Andreola and the companion guide by Shelley Noonan. At the blog B'Twixt and B'Tween there is a lesson page broken down by chapter which we will use as a resource in our study. I wanted to have each B'Attitude of the Week and its memory verse on a printable sheet so I made a word file that can be edited and printed. (I left it as an editable file so other users could use the translation of their choice and type out the memory verse under the B'Attitude card before printing.) I have yet to learn how to upload a file so everyone can get it but if you'd like to have it just email me and I'll do my best to get it to you.
My oldest will be using Apologia's Exploring Creation with Physical Science. We have found a wonderful blog with videos to go along with our study.
For math, my oldest will be using Saxon 8/7 .
My youngest will be using Singapore.
As part of our Language Arts we are going to study together using Excellence In Writing and separately using The Phonetic Zoo for spelling.
Grammar will be done separately. My oldest will use Easy Grammar:Grade 8. My youngest will use both Easy Grammar:Grade 5 and Daily Grams:Grade 5.
Ambleside Online is where we go for free resources on Literature, Art, Poetry, Nature, Hymns, Folk Music, Composers, and Shakespeare studies. Also, for Literature studies, my oldest will use The Eagle of Ninth Study Guide
My youngest will be using The Minstrel in the Tower Study Guide.
I am still working on our schedule but I do know that we will be rotating subjects at various times of the year in order to cover everything. I think this will help to keep our studies fresh so we don't suffer from burn-out. This blog post has been put together mainly for my benefit as I head down the path of preparing a transcript but I hope somehow it will help others, too.
